Overview of The Organization
The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) is the country’s premier institution for open and distance learning (ODL), offering flexible higher education opportunities to a diverse student base. Established in 1980, OUSL operates under the University Grants Commission (UGC) and provides undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate programs across various disciplines, including Engineering, Management, Humanities, Health Sciences, Education, and Natural Sciences. With its main campus in Nawala, Nugegoda, and regional centers nationwide, the university combines self-paced learning, online resources, and face-to-face support, making quality education accessible to working professionals and students from all backgrounds.
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in English (On Contract)
Institution: Postgraduate Institute of English (PGIE), The Open University of Sri Lanka
Qualifications:
- Lecturer: Special/Honours Degree in English & Master's/MPhil/PhD with at least 1 year of teaching/research experience.
- Senior Lecturer: Special/Honours Degree in English & Master's/MPhil/PhD with at least 6 years of teaching/research experience.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Practice in English and other PGIE initiatives.
- Support additional PGIE programs.
Salary
- Lecturer : Rs. 89,000/ + Rs. 5000/ special allowance + EPF/ETF
- Senior Lecturer : Rs. 136,000/ + Rs. 5000/ special allowance + EPF/ETF
Appointment Duration:
- Initially, it will be for 6 months, and it will be extendable up to 2 years based on performance.
